Julian Kaiser was on his game on the mound for the Turners Falls baseball team on Wednesday.

The sophomore threw a complete game, striking out six, giving up just four hits while not surrendering a run against an Athol lineup that scored 19 against Turners earlier in the year. The Thunder offense put two on the board in the sixth to hand Athol its first Bi-County North loss of the season behind a 2-0 victory in Athol.

“[Kaiser] threw a gem,” Turners coach Scott Minckler said. “He dominated and had them off balance all day. He was really on his game today.”

Athol coach Josh Talbot agreed.

“Kaiser threw great and his teammates did a great job supporting him in the field,” he said.

Kainen Stevens had two hits to pace Turners while Kaiser and Trevor Lyons drove in the team’s two runs in the sixth.

Athol’s Logan Cormier struck out seven in five innings, allowing just one hit.

In JV action, Athol fell to Gardner, 11-8.
