New Deerfield yoga practice seeks to ‘tend to the soul’

DEERFIELD — Eternal Life Yoga & Wellness is putting down roots in the valley.
Olivia “Oli” Baronas, 30, is offering a spiritual yoga experience in private or semi-private sessions in her new space at the Mill Village Professional Building, located at 235 Greenfield Road. The unique aspect of her studio, though, is how she incorporates teachings from the Bible alongside conventional yoga practices.
While she includes the teachings of Jesus Christ in her work, she emphasized there is plenty of room for what some may see as the typical yoga experience. She is happy to work with clients to determine what they want their experience to look like with a “full menu of other options.”
“The person can choose where on the spectrum they want to be. If they want to come into the studio for a simply embodied experience where they just get a good stretch in, we can do that,” Baronas said. “I will tailor to a person’s needs. … It’s really what the person is looking for. I am here to tend to the soul.”
The launch of her business, she added, was assisted by the Entrepreneurship Accelerator program offered by the Franklin County Community Development Corp., where participants learned how to pitch and market their business, as well as what resources are available for a start-up.
Baronas did her initial 200-hour yoga training in Nicaragua in 2016 after taking a semester off from the University of Vermont. She then returned to the area and spent some time working at her alma mater, the Union 38 and Frontier Regional school districts. Finally, in spring 2024, she found the location for her business and then took a one-month training class at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Stockbridge over the summer. She moved into her space in October.
As for her location, Baronas said she was looking for an apartment to rent in the area and ended up seeing the Mill Village Professional Building offering up business space. Taking that as a sign that she should find a brick-and-mortar location for Eternal Life Yoga & Wellness, she took the plunge.
Her conventional yoga classes follow what people would expect from a typical yoga session, while her Gospel-centered classes will have “movements backed with text from the Gospel.”

“I’m here to include everyone, to be a safe space for all,” Baronas said, emphasizing that there is no mission behind her work. “I’m not here to convert people, I’m here to offer a line of wisdom.”
For those who are seeking a more religious or spiritual experience, Baronas said she is hoping to provide that, especially to folks who may be apprehensive for one reason or another.
“We want to take down the fear and normalize Jesus in unconventional spaces,” she said.
A private session, which can last from 75 to 90 minutes, is priced on a sliding scale of $40 to $100. Semi-private sessions for up to four people are also available with the following price structure: $100 for four people, $90 for three people and $70 for two people.
